3DTV view generation using uncalibrated pure rotating and zooming cameras

چکیده
This paper proposes a novel method for synthesizing free viewpoint video captured by uncalibrated pure rotating and zooming cameras. Neither intrinsic nor extrinsic parameters of our cameras are known. Projective grid space (PGS), which is the 3D space defined by the epipolar geometry of two basis cameras, is employed for weak camera calibration. Trifocal tensors are used to relate non-basis cameras to PGS. Given trifocal tensors in the initial frame, our method automatically computes trifocal tensors in the other frames. Scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) is used for finding corresponding points in a natural scene between the initial frame and the other frames. Finally, free viewpoint video is synthesized based on the reconstructed visual hull. In the experimental results, free viewpoint video captured by uncalibrated hand-held cameras is successfully synthesized using the proposed method. & 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Free Viewpoint Image Synthesis Using Uncalibrated Multiple Moving Cameras
We propose a novel method to synthesize free-viewpoint images for a moving object, which is captured by uncalibrated multiple moving cameras. If multiple fixed cameras are used for capturing a moving object, we must zoom out in order to capture the moving object within FOV of the cameras. Such zooming-out limits the resolution for the moving object in the captured images. In the proposed method...
متن کاملSelf-calibration of zooming cameras from a single viewpoint
A con guration which commonly occurs in many imaging applications is that of a camera whose optic centre is xed in location but which may freely rotate while changing its internal parameters by zooming. This is the case in applications such as surveillance, broadcasting and panoramic viewing, where a wide eld of view is captured from a single viewpoint by rotating a camera which is typically mo...

UNCALIBRATED VIDEO CAMERAS Nelson L. Chang and Avideh Zakhor Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences University of California, Berkeley, CA 94720 USA e-mail: [email protected], [email protected] ABSTRACT This paper focuses on the representation and arbitrary view generation of three dimensional (3-D) scenes. In contrast to existing methods that construct a full 3...
متن کاملThe Effects of Translational Misalignment when Self-Calibrating Rotating and Zooming Cameras
Algorithms for self-calibrating cameras whose changes in calibration parameters are confined to rotation and zooming are useful since many real-world imaging situations do not permit translations — consider for instance cameras mounted on tripods and deskor wall-mounted active heads. In practice, however, the assumption of pure rotation is often violated because the optic centre of the camera a...
متن کاملEfficient multi-view video coding using 3D motion estimation and virtual frame
Capturing a scene using multiple cameras from different angles is expected to provide the necessary interactivity in the threedimensional (3D) space to satisfy end-users’ demands for observing objects and actions from different angles and depths. Multi-view broadcast is becoming increasingly popular in commercial television networks for the added user-level interactivity. Multi-view also improv...
